Illustration Biennial 2012

The Illustration Biennial 2012 was for the second time a meeting place for illustrators, designers, clients, students and lovers of graphic art. In theater De Toneelschuur in Haarlem, the Netherlands, illustration sparkled in all its manifestations, from clear line to bright visual language, from handmade craftsmanship to interactive design.

Talks by illustrators

There was a versatile program about the visual power of illustration, Saturday June 2. Illustrators talked about their work and inspiration, presented by Jellie Brouwer, host of Dutch cultural radio show NPS Kunststof. This years featured speakers: Joost Swarte (NL), Kate Bingaman Burt (USA), Atja Apituley representing Mijksenaar (NL), Babette Wagenvoort (NL), Tara Dougans (GB), Siegfried Woldhek (NL), Gioia Smid about the Fiep Westendorp Foundation (NL), Richard Boeser (NL), Max Kisman (NL), TRIK (NL) and Tim Enthoven (NL).

Digital exhibition

The digital exhibition showed work by over 100 illustrators from The Netherlands and abroad, and was open Saturday 2 and Sunday June 3. Work of this illustrators can also be found in the Illustratie Biënnale 2012 App, powered by the Fiep Westendorp Foundation.
