Krista van der Niet (Bathmen, 1978) is a photographic illustrator. She studied photography at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam and has been a teacher at the KABK in The Hague since 2011.
Krista about her work: “I work from my studio, where I collect a lot of stuff, and where I carefully stage and build my images/sets. They are actually sculptures that I eventually photograph. I look for the simplicity and purity of things, and strive for very direct and concentrated images in which aesthetics certainly play a role, but also discomfort or protest. I am interested in the border and transition between man and object, man and woman, natural and artificial things, but I also like to play with the absurdity of daily life. kristavanderniet.nl
